Most assuredly no Times New Roman!

Not to mention some of the designers seemed to just not have a clue. I think resting the eyes and the mind might help give you a fresh viewpoint and opinion for when you look through them again. (I always have that type of problem since I tend to obsess on things, as that's just my nature)

Anyway, take a breath, and don't think about it too hard. In the end, it's an icon. People aren't going to remember you for a bit of ink. They're going to remember you for the quality of product. Though I do understand the desire for a logo that catches the eye, hehe.

Good advice as well. I'm playing around a bit removing the sound waves. Liked those a lot but I begin to see the point that the overall logo gets pretty busy. I'll let it simmer for a day or two. I have 14 to make a decision.

Here's a thought experiment:

Quickly, write down the first 10-20 companies/corporations that come to the top of your head.

Now, go through your list and look up their logos.
I'm willing to bet that they are all very simple designs. There is a reason for this.

Hey guys. working with the developer on metering options for the screen display. there are some issues with creating meters that reflect the internal workings of other plugins. (im not ready to explain that sentence in any detail) a solution that I am considering is a new type of dynamics metering (I think its new cause Ive never seen it)

rather than measuring gain reduction specifically we would measure the MAX/MIN DB of the signal going into and coming out of the system. We would have a meter with two sides. left side would measure input. right side output. The measurement would be essentially the height of the wave representing dynamic range. ie Center equal median DB and the meter displaying over under for min max in DB. This would be an average measurement over a time frame from something like 1ms to 1000ms. A completely compressed signal would basically be a dot in the center whereas a high dynamic range would push the top and bottom of the meter.

Please tell me your thoughts on the usefulness of this approach.

I could certainly some use in such a meter, although i'm not sure how much exactly (in the end, it's ears and not eyes that matter in music).

I doubt it would be much use for setting up for recording or similar situations, but end of the day, the internal meters in the DAW should already be able to handle that.

At the very least, i think access to that specific information could facilitate some interesting experiments for people that like to go deep with their synth plug-ins.

Hi all, This is a work in process snap of the front end user interface. this is one of 2 themes that I expect to launch with. you will be able to choose from a modern or vintage look. this is the beginnings of vintage which is modeled after a certain brit concole. I would like your initial reactions.

Looks rather neat, a nice theme, gives it a bit of charm.

One thing i'm slightly confused BTW though is the "100" written near some of the knobs.
Is it a placeholder for actual parameters?

Also you might wanna go with a bit lighter text in the knob section. It's readable okay, but in darker conditions or for people with bad eyesight it might be a bit to dark.

I also like the color scheme. I've always been fond of dark nearly-black or very dark grey backgrounds/panels. The wood side panels are nice too. I think they would look better with a slightly more red tone. Maybe some nice cherry wood?
Darker Cherry:

Lighter Cherry:

I'm guessing the 100's are placeholders as are the little labels under them.

I agree on the brightness of the text if it's just printed on the panel, but I'm assuming there might be something like backlighting to make them stand out more, or the text lights up when that channel or row is selected?

It looks like all the knobs are pots. Is there a plan to use any endless rotaries? I know some people prefer rotaries to pots. (I'm fond of pots myself, though)
Of course, you can't please everyone, and I don't think you should.

Overall, I like the design, layout, and color choice of the mockup.

Also, looks like you made a final decision on the logo, too. Looks nice to me, and I think it fits well.

Hi all,

Progress is continuing on the project. Below are 5 images representing the graphics work up to this point. We will have an application to begin testing in the next month or so but that will remain wire frame until near completion based on the challenges of working around large image files. Please let me know your impressions.

Overall i really like it.

The only thing buggering me is the text color on the "selected" buttons in the second to last image.
The white text is really hard to make out for me, especially on the grey and green buttons.

Other then it all looks good, though i would like an explanation of what each image is.

I also like the UI a lot. It's looking nice. :)

On the 'selected' buttons, as was mentioned, maybe the button background behind the text could just be slightly darker to help the contrast between the text and the button.
The colors really do pop out at you though, hehe. They look vibrant, and I like it. :)

Really looking good. :)

Really like it, a bit clinical look, which aren't really my favorite, maybe the text from the third knob on could stand a bit more contrast, it's seems lighter then the rest, which seems weird to me.

Agreed on the contrast. Readability is important.

Otherwise, I think it's a very nice modern looking theme. Always good to have different skin flavors to appease different tastes. One thing to consider, is maybe allowing the UI to be skinnable (kinda like what people do with Reaper) Just a thought. :)

still work in progress as stated. I am considering paying for the development of 6 different themes (skins) already have these 2. Not sure what you mean by skinable other than what I have here. if you look at the 3rd image from the last posting you can see the theme selection. this one is supposed to be really unique from the first one or anything else for that matter.

short version of the screens is
1) a screen to load vst's
2) a screen to configure the controls
3) a screen to configure the interface
4) a screen to configure the routing
5) a screen that functions as a standard vst during mixing

I think what J-Bot means is to allow users to make their own skins and apply them to the UI.
That way besides the designs you got, the user community can make their own and use each other's skins.
